Flydubai Announces $190 Million Aircraft Maintenance Facility in Dubai South – Latest Updates and Details

Yesterday, Flydubai announced its plans to establish an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in the Dubai South region, with a total value of $190 million (regarding 700 million dirhams), noting that it is expected to open in 2026.

The announcement of the new facility came during a press conference on the sidelines of the Dubai Air Show, in the presence of the CEO of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, Khalifa Al Zaffin, the Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Aviation Project, Tahnoun Saif, and the CEO of Flydubai, Ghaith Al Ghaith.

The foundation stone will be laid and construction work will begin next year, while construction work is expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2026.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Flydubai, said: “We are proud to announce Flydubai’s plans to establish an advanced aircraft repair and maintenance facility in Dubai South. He stressed that “Flydubai continues to invest in its employees and build solid foundations for the continuation of the growth process within its pivotal role in supporting Dubai’s economic vision, especially the aviation industry.”

Reducing operational costs

Flydubai Chief Operating Officer, Mick Hills, said: “When we start operating the maintenance, repair and renewal facility in 2026, this facility in the Dubai South region will bring us significant reductions in operational costs.” He added, “The presence of our maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in the country will ensure the speedy completion of repair and maintenance of our fleet’s aircraft, while adhering to the highest quality standards.”
