The election in the cloister of professors in the faculties and colleges of the University left among the salient data a kind of “flood” of blank votes in Medicine, where only a list related to the current conduct of the decant had been presented.
According to data from the vote taken late yesterday followingnoon, following three days of voting, out of a total of 126 teachers who turned out to vote, 33 turned their backs on what was presented as a “unit list.” The picture, according to observers of university politics, has no antecedents in sight in the history of the elections of the faculty in that faculty. Nor was anything similar identified in the rest of the University.
This reflects that a conflict remains latent in which the rectorate of the University is involved. In 2014 he managed to lead the Faculty.
The teaching faculty defines seven (five for the majority and two for the minority that obtains 25 of the votes) of the 16 seats that each board of directors has. In this sense, the officialdoms of Law, Economics, Architecture, Arts, Economics, Veterinary Medicine, Humanities, Computer Science, Engineering, Dentistry, Journalism, Psychology, Social Work and Medicine, which are presented without opposition competition in the cloister, have already secured an absolute majority. teacher.
In addition to the seven professors, the management of (almost) all these faculties already has three graduates (who voted last week) and the non-teacher (who will go to the polls next week), which would ensure the 11 votes necessary to reelect (or the 9 enough to designate a dean of the same political color).
It will not be like that in Medicine, where the Dean’s Office obtained a contrast in the graduate faculty and with that it suspended the re-election of Dean Juan Ángel Basualdo Farjat. He had just lost the head of practical works (JTP) at the hands of the radical opposition that gave the bump in the elections at the beginning of the month, by keeping the three councilors at stake (even with the JTP to which the ruling party clung) .
Another of the hardest-fought faculty disputes occurred in Agrarias, where the “Consensus” list (aligned with Dean Ricardo Andreu, who would run for re-election) managed to win by two votes, 36 to 34, over the “Convergence” list (which promoted by ex-deans and referents linked to the traditional ruling party of Agrarias).
The votes of graduates and students remain, in the coming weeks
Of the 11 votes he needs to be re-elected, Andreu already has 3 (the non-teacher and two graduates, since he lost the JTP with another payroll linked to La Cámpora). The suspense for driving in Agrarias thus extends to the student election.
The Deanery also prevailed in Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences, where the “Observatory” list was imposed with 39 votes to “Plurality”, which garnered 24.
The same board was presented in Natural Sciences, where list 1 “Faculty” won by a wide margin to “Professors by Natural”: 105 to 27. Thus, it was left with the seven councilors of the faculty.
extension in exact
In the other faculty where there was competition, Exact Sciences, interest is maintained until this noon. Yesterday it was decided to extend the voting and the count will begin at 12.
The lists linked to the current leadership in these last three faculties come from the addition of three graduate advisers. As things turned out, continuity at the head of the Deanery was assured.
Far from the numbers of Medicine, other faculties that had a blank vote record were Engineering (10 once morest 153 of the Dean’s payroll), Humanities (8 and 141).
Meanwhile, in the National College, 11 teachers of the 157 who voted (3 null) chose that option and in the Inchausti Agrarian School, 13 of the 49 voters voted blank, among other cases.
The electoral schedule at the University will end with the voting of students in the 17 faculties, from March 30 to April 1.
This faculty will seat 4 new directors in the board of directors who, as first activities, will have to vote for the leadership of the Dean’s Office and then, in the university assembly (integrates the board of directors of all the faculties) the new president of the UNLP.
At the same time, in the same election at the end of the month, the new management of the student centers will be defined, a segment of the representation with an extended mandate as a result of the suspension of annual voting due to health restrictions.
