Flu vaccination begins this year in San Juan: what will be the order of priorities | Cuyo’s diary

San Juan received from the Ministry of Health of the Nation, the doses of flu vaccines to start with the implementation of the Vaccination Campaign in a staggered manner, taking into account the risk groups.

In this first installment, the Provincial Immunization Program received 21,000 doses for adults and the vaccination will correspond to health personnel from the public and private sectors.

The National Vaccination Calendar includes the following groups within the influenza vaccine:

  • Health personnel.
  • pregnant.
  • Children from 6 months to 24 months.
  • People older than 65 years.
  • People from 2 to 64 years old with risk factors: obesity, diabetes, respiratory diseases, heart diseases, congenital or acquired immunodeficiencies, oncohematological patients, transplant patients or people with chronic kidney failure on dialysis, among others.

What is the flu

The flu or influenza is a respiratory viral disease that usually occurs in the coldest months of the year.

Symptoms usually appear within 48 hours of infection, and the majority of those affected recover in one or two weeks without the need for medical treatment. However, young children, older adults, and people with risk factors can have serious, life-threatening complications.
