The infection season has begun. Last week, 6,817 people in Burgenland reported sick. The number of sick days continues to rise, according to the latest figures from the Austrian Health Insurance Fund. The main reasons for reporting incapacity for work are flu-like infections, influenza and Covid-19.
BURGENLAND. The cold season has begun and with it the Wave of infection over Burgenland. The result: the number of sick days is rising rapidly. According to the Austrian Health Insurance Fund, Previous week 6,817 Burgenlanders on sick leave. 1,090 reports of incapacity for work concerned flu infected, 4 Influenza (“real flu”) and 22 Covid-19The rest was due to other diseases.
“The number of sick days has increased again compared to the previous week. We notice this in all three illnesses,” explains ÖGK chief physician Andreas Krauter.
In the previous week there were 6,212 sick days reported in this context. A further increase is expected in the coming weeks. General practitioners can therefore prepare for full practices.
Covid cases in Eisenstadt hospital are increasing
The autumn wave hit Burgenland earlier this year than last year. This is also confirmed Carla Schmirl, press spokesperson for Eisenstadt Hospital: “This week, the first patient suffering from influenza is being treated as an inpatient. The end of September is unusually early for the start of the flu season.” Even though only one patient suffering from influenza is currently being treated as an inpatient, the Bettensituation slowly.
