Due to which the increase in the price of flour up to 10 rupees per kg will be unbearable for the poor man. The government should immediately withdraw the imposition of withholding tax.’

He further said that wheat washing was stopped on July 10 and now a strike is being conducted. According to Asim Raza: ‘Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin contacted the Flour Mills Association and put the demands before them, but no response has been received so far. On the other hand, during the meeting with the Minister of Food, Punjab, Bilal Yasin, the representatives of Nanbai Association assured that uninterrupted supply of bread and bread will be ensured in the month of Muharram.

Changes in flour packaging rules
On Wednesday, there was a change in the rules for the packaging of flour sold in Punjab, with the Punjab Food Department issuing a notification regarding new colors, weight and labeling of flour packaging.
According to this notification, common flour, fortified flour, maida and semolina will be packed in bags of different colors.
According to the new notification, the printed bags must bear the name of the product, ingredients, trademark, name and address of the manufacturer. Bag weight, logo, code number, expiry date and license number must also be entered.
The industry has been given 15 days to implement the new rules.
In this regard, Secretary Food Punjab Moazzam Iqbal Supra said in a statement to the media that ‘fine flour is also being sold in 20 kg bags in the market. It was a bit difficult for a common man to differentiate between flour and flour bags.’
He further said that ‘Food Department Punjab will also start an awareness campaign regarding the use of fortified flour. The use of flour rich in iron, zinc and other vitamins will be useful for women and children while labeling on the bags and monitoring the quality of flour will be the responsibility of the Punjab Food Authority.
