Two gold medals and one silver were won by three students from Floridablanca and Bucaramanga during the International Primary Mathematics Olympiads, held this week in Honduras.

The gold medal was won by Juan Diego García Chávez, who is in the fourth grade of primary school at the José Elías Puyana Industrial Technical School, in Floridablanca. Meanwhile, in that same grade and from that same school, the boy Anthony Sandoval Benítez took the silver medal in that category.

On the other hand, in the individual test and in the sixth grade, the young Juan Andrés Pizano Cabeza, from the Reggio Amelia school, in Bucaramanga, won the gold medal.

Through skill, dedication and passion for numbers, these three students, who were endorsed by the Industrial University of Santander and Unisucre, demonstrated their excellence in one of the most challenging disciplines of education: mathematics.

They defeated delegations from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Mexico and Spain.

After the triumph of the Santander residents, Bartolomé Chinchilla, academic vice-rector of the Francisco Mora Santos National Pedagogical University of Honduras, highlighted the sharp minds and ability of our winners to solve complex problems in record time.

These three young talents represent the future of mathematics in the Bucaramanga metropolitan area and are an inspiring example for other students. Its success shows that, with effort and dedication, it is possible to achieve great achievements in this discipline.

It is worth saying that the next edition of these fairs, which will reach their fifth edition, will take place next year in Bolivia 2024.
