Florida: windfall or good job?

Mr. Principal:

The development of the commune of La Florida has been highlighted in the media. What in the 70s was a rural area, today has become an urban center in itself.

The commune today has first-class hospital services and the largest number of clinics per inhabitant, a sector of malls with two shopping centers that at one time came to supply everything that the public sector was not providing, and around them arose universities, institutes and, obviously, housing. The malls were the infrastructure that enabled this commune during the turn of the millennium.

Today a person can complete their life in La Florida, becoming one of the communes with the largest stock of apartments and, furthermore, with a varied demographic that represents a socioeconomic photograph of Chile.

Florida is a successful example of how the private sector can be more proactive than the public in the process of building new city centers. However, it is worth wondering if this was due to a stroke of luck or if this will be a sustainable method for the development of other emerging communes in the country.
