Florida Swimming and Diving Team Sweeps Tennessee and Kentucky: Meet Results in Knoxville, Tenn.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The No. 3/7 ranked Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving team’s secured sweep number two and three on the season, after downing both No. 6/6 Tennessee and No. 25/19 Kentucky on Friday afternoon. The men remain undefeated, 4-0 (3-0 SEC), and the women improve to 4-1 (4-0).

Both teams registered a combined 15 B-cuts on the day, and the women claimed 11 first-place finishes, followed by 10 on the men side. Florida has registered a combined 63 first-place finishes during the start of the 2023-24 campaign.

Women’s 1-meter, 3-meter diving

Ana Monroy, who was named SEC Diver of the Week on Oct. 31, placed first in the 1-meter after scoring a 291.55.

Monroy claimed second in the 3-meter, finishing with a 294.45, and Carina Lumia placed fourth with 289.80.

Men’s 1-meter, 3-meter diving

Peyton Donald scored a 356.35 to earn first for the first time of his Gator career. Conor Gesing finished in third after scoring a 334.60, followed by Skip Donald who finished with a 315.70.

Gesing, who has won two SEC Diver of the Week awards so far this season, scored a 364.65 on the 3-meter to place second.

Women’s 200 Medley Relay

For the second week in a row, the A team of Bella Sims, Molly Mayne, Olivia Peoples, and Micayla Cronk finished in the top-spot after swimming a 1:37.37 to record their fastest time of the season. The B relay team of Catie Choate, Anna Moore, Zoe Dixon, and Ekaterina Nikonova came in third with a 1:41.24.

Men’s 200 Medley Relay

The A relay team of Adam Chaney, Aleksas Savickas, Joshua Liendo, and Macguire McDuff finished in first by just .08 seconds ahead of Tennessee’s A Team. Florida’s B team, Jonny Marshall, Julian Smith, Scotty Buff, and Ed Fullum-Huot registered a third-place finish with 1:27.31.

Women’s 1,000 Freestyle

Caroline Pennington earned her third first-place finish of the season, touching the wall in 9:48.14, followed by Anna Auld who clocked a 9:52.05 to finish in second. Madison Kolessar finished fourth with a time of 9:58.88.

Men’s 1,000 Freestyle

Freshman Andrew Taylor finished six seconds ahead of second place to earn his first top-place finish of his career in the event after cruising to a 9:03.97.

Women’s 200 Freestyle

Emma Weyant took second with a time of 1:47.01, while JoJo Ramey finished fourth, touching the wall in 1:48.06 to set a new Florida career-high.

Men’s 200 Freestyle

The Gators took two of the top-three spots, with Jake Mitchell coming in first after touching the wall in 1:35.92 to finish ahead of Julian Smith. The junior came in third after swimming a 1:37.75 in his 200 free season debut.

Women’s 100 Backstroke

Florida snagged three of the top-five spots, with Isabel Ivey coming in first after registering
a season-high 52.26. Catie Choate finished in third with a 53.66, only .06 off from a season high, followed by Aris Runnels in fourth who swam a 54.30 to shave 1.07 seconds off her old season high.

Men’s 100 Backstroke

Florida was led by Jonny Marshall, who came in first at 46.80. Freshman Scotty Buff followed with a 49.42 to finish in third. Both freshmen recorded season-highs.

Women’s 100 Breaststroke

UF recorded three of the top-five spots, as Molly Mayne clocked a 1:01.04 to come in second, with Grace Rainey right behind her in third swimming a 1:02.06. Olivia Peoples came in fourth after touching the wall in 1:02.52.

Men’s 100 Breaststroke

Aleksas Savickas earned his first top-place finish of the season after swimming to a 54.35, and Raphael Rached Windmuller finished in third in his event debut with a 55.19.

Women’s 200 Fly

Florida went 1-2-3, as freshman Bella Sims lead the way with a 1:54.05 finish in her event debut. Lainy Kruger followed after clocking a 1:59.25, and Zoe Dixon came in third after recording a 2:00.16 to earn her second top-three finish of the season.

Men’s 200 Fly

Mason Laur posted a B-cut time of 1:45.79 to come in third, just in front of Billy Jones’ 1:49.60.

Women’s 50 Free

Micayla Cronk posted a B-cut time of 22.53, swimming to her second first-place finish of the season. Ekaterina Nikonova finished with a season-high 23.12 to finish in fifth.

Men’s 50 Free

The Gators grabbed three of the top four spots, as Joshua Liendo swam to a second-place finish after posting a B-cut time of 19.28 to record a new season-high. Macguir McDuff followed in third with a 19.98, and Adam Chaney touched the wall in 19.98 in his event debut.

Women’s 100 Freestyle

Isabel Ivey’s 48.77 B-cut time put her in first place, while Micayla Cronk posted a 49.56 to finish in third. Ekaterina Nikonova set a new season-high after swimming a 50.00 to earn fourth.

Men’s 100 Freestyle

Macguire McDuff lead the way for Florida, swimming a B-cut time 43.33 to place third, just in front of Adam Chaney’s season-best 44.86.

Women’s 200 Backstroke

The Gators took three of the four top-spots, as Bella Sims secured her second first-place finish of the season after touching the wall in 1:52.93. Zoe Dixon swam to a third-place finish after recording a B-cut time of 1:57.06, just in front of Catie Choate’s 1;57.09.

Men’s 200 Backstroke

Jonny Marshall secured his third first-place finish after registering a B-cut time of 1:44.44. Amadeusz Knop touched the wall in 1:47.25 to earn fourth, and Mason Laur posted a 1:47.52 for fifth in his event debut.

Women’s 200 Breaststroke

Grace Rainey clocked a B-cut time of 2:13.37 to finish in second to lead the way for Florida, while Molly Mayne swam a season-best 2:15.26 to put her in third place.

Men’s 200 Breaststroke

Florida went 1-2-3, as Aleksas Savickas took the top-spot after swimming to a 1:58.11, just in front of Peter Bretzmann who finished with a 1:58.35. Raphael Rached Windmuller placed third after touching the wall in 2:00.48.

Women’s 500 Freestyle

Florida took the top-three spots, as Emma Weyant secured her second individual first-place finish of the season in the 500 free after swimming a B-cut time of 4:45.81. JoJo Ramey followed in second after touching the wall in 4:51.70, followed by Anna Auld’s 4:51.70.

Men’s 500 Freestyle

Jake Mitchell (4:23.56) and Andrew Taylor (4:24.87) went one-two in the event, with Taylor shaving off nearly four seconds off his previous personal best (4:28.11).

Women’s 100 Fly

Isabel Ivey (52.52) and Olivia Peoples (53.15) went one-two after both posting B-cut times, followed by Lainy Kruger’s 54.76 to put her in third place. .

Men’s 100 Fly

Joshua Liendo continues to dominate the event, securing his third first-place finish after posting a B-cut time of 46.55. Julian Smith earned his first top-three finish of the season after swimming to a 47.97, and Scotty Buff recorded a fourth-place finish with a 48.26.

Women’s 200 IM

Florida recorded three of the top-four spots, as Emma Weyant lead the way with a 2:00.11 to finish in second. Zoe Dixon clocked a 2:01.06 to place third, while Julia Podkoscielny followed in fourth with 2:02.98.

Men’s 200 IM

Mason Laur lead the Gators to a second-place finish in his season-debut, clocking a 1:48.48. Sean Sullivan touched the wall in 1:50.65 to a fifth-place finish.

Women’s 400 Free Relay

The A relay team of Isabel Ivey, Ekaterina Nikonova, Micayla Cronk, and Bella Sims won the event by over three whole seconds with a time of 3:15.48 to register the fastest 400 free relay time for Florida of the season. The B relay team of Aris Runnels, Catie Choate, Carly Meeting, and Lainy Kruger finished in third with a 3:22.97.

Men’s 400 Free Relay

The A relay team of Joshua Liendo, Adam Chaney, Macguire McDuff, and Julian Smith swam a 2:54.14 to finish in second by just .10 seconds behind Tennessee’s A team (2:54.04).

The Gators have a week break before heading to Athens, Georgia, where Florida will compete in the Georgia invite. The meet will begin Nov. 16, and will run through Nov. 18.
