Florida police officer shot dead on Christmas Eve

An Okaloosa County, Florida police officer shot to death this Saturday on Christmas Eve, authorities confirmed.

Ray Hamilton was fatally shot while attempting to serve a domestic violence subpoena on Timothy Price-Williams and was establishing a perimeter around the man’s home when shots fired from inside, hitting the sheriff’s deputy, it said Fox 13 News.

Hamilton was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Timothy Price-Williams, 43 years old, is accused of first degree premeditated murder for the officer’s death in Fort Walton Beach.

After shooting Hamilton, Price-Williams refused for some time to leave the house and when he finally did, he acted in a manner that “caused another deputy to fire at him,” the sheriff’s office said.

The suspect was injured in the right arm, for which he was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

The man was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail, where he remains without bond.

He was denied bail and remained in jail on Sunday.

According to the news channel UnivisionTimothy Price-Williams was suspected of assault, in a case of domestic violence and the authorities demanded that he leave the house that he shared with his partner, in Fort Walton Beach.

On Saturday, her partner reported to the police that during the night of Friday, December 23, Price-Williams hit her, pushed her, broke several belongings and confiscated her cell phone so that she might not call the authorities and ask for help.

After the complaint, the officers moved to the area to get the man, who had barricaded himself in his house, to come out.

Also last year a Florida police officer was shot by a man in Miami Gardens, when the defendant fired at him from his car, seriously injuring the officer.

The policeman was stationed at the scene to monitor traffic.
