WXXI news- Florida man is arrested following threatening to commit a mass shooting.

A man residing in the town of Cape Coral, in southwestern Florida, United States (USA), was arrested following threatening to perpetrate a mass shooting that would make the events that recently occurred in Uvalde (Texas) and Highland Park (Illinois) look like as “child’s play”.

Ira Dennis Crosser Jr., 55, was arrested by Cape Coral Police Thursday at his home. This following the troops received the alert from another police unit regarding the threats made by the man, the local media reported this Friday. WINK News.

According to police, the person who alerted authorities expressed concern that Crosser Jr. suffered from “violent tendencies” and had access to firearms.

Man arrested following making written threat

Once the officers were able to confirm that the messages were sent by the detainee, they went to his home to arrest him.

Crosser Jr. was held on $25,000 bond and is being held in a Lee County jail. He also faces a charge of making a written threat to carry out a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.

The arrest comes days following a young man fired several rounds of ammunition at the assistants to the 4th of July parade in Highland Park (north of Chicago). Killing 7 of them and wounding another 39.

The 21-year-old suspect, Robert Crimo, will face 7 counts of first degree murder – one for each fatality. While the prosecution will present more accusations in the coming days in relation to the 39 people injured.

That incident occurred just over a month following a gunman entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing 19 children and 2 teachers.
