Of the Ice cream producer Florida-Eis from Berlin wants to start with the announced construction of a factory in Schönebeck next spring. Managing Director Olaf Höhn told MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT that the applications for funding had already been approved by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Magdeburg. When asked, the Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that no conclusive information might yet be given on the application for funding.
According to the managing director, a total of 25 million euros will be invested in Schönebeck – six million euros of which are subsidies. Ice production on site is scheduled to start in 2024, with 30,000 to 40,000 liters of ice per day. Company boss Höhn announced that 200 to 250 jobs would be created.
Focus on sustainability and environmental protection
The plans envisage a hall construction made of wood. “It should be something special,” explained Höhn. An architect’s office from Switzerland is to be commissioned for this. The company boss said that they also work together with the Fraunhofer Institute on energy issues. Florida-Eis is regarding sustainability – the company had already started Germany’s first climate-neutral ice cream production in Berlin. In recent years, the ice cream has become more and more a sales hit.
