Florence, Renzi’s parents acquitted for bankruptcy and convicted for false invoices –

The court of Florence has acquitted the parents of the leader of Italia Viva, Matteo Renzi, Tiziano Renzi and his wife Laura Bovoli from the charge of bankruptcy in the first-degree trial for the bankruptcy of the cooperatives Marmodiv, Delivery and Europe Service. And sentenced the couple to three years, two months and 15 days of imprisonment for false invoices. Husband and wife were acquitted, however, from the main charge of bankruptcy. Their daughter Matilde, Matteo’s sister, was acquitted from the charge of false invoices because the fact does not exist and for the particular triviality of the fact.

The defense of Tiziano Renzi and Laura Bovoli are waiting to read the reasons for the first-instance conviction for false invoices and then file an appeal. Lawyer Federico Bagattini recalled that for this proceeding the couple had been placed under house arrest. “It was the bankruptcy trial and they were acquitted – he commented – I want to point out that if those who requested the measure and those who ordered it had foreseen this sentence, the precautionary measure could not have been administered to the Renzi couple”.
