Flopped! CrossfireX: Xbox exclusive to be disabled soon

Since the early days, one of the biggest complaints from Xbox owners has been the lack of massive exclusives on the console. Although Microsoft is working hard to try to reverse this situation by acquiring companies like Bethesda and possibly Activision Blizzard, executives themselves recognize that they have not reached the ideal level when it comes to releasing new games.

A few days ago, we found out that the paid campaign CrossfireX: Operation Catalyst would be leaving the Game Pass catalog soon, which put users on notice as CrossfireX is an Xbox exclusive. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before the developer announced the complete shutdown of the game.

Launched in February 2022, CrossfireX ended up becoming one of the worst Xbox exclusives, causing the game to have an extremely short life cycle on the platform.

According to developer Smilegate, the game will disappear completely in May 18th. In addition to having already been removed from the Xbox Store and also from Game Pass, all purchases made in the last 14 days will be refunded. Anyone who already owns the game will not be able to play any of its modes following this date.

Generally, when this kind of shutdown happens, single player mode can still be accessed, but this will not be the case in CrossfireX. The game’s solo campaign was developed by Remedy Entertainment, but it was heavily criticized for its short duration and poor enemy artificial intelligence.

This is certainly a big loss for Xbox, given the popularity of the Crossfire franchise. In any case, we hope that the company will be able to turn around and bring more exclusive weight to its players.
