Flights disrupted in Israel, some diverted to Cairo, and an Arab country suspends all flights to Lebanon

Israeli airline Israir said in a statement on Sunday that “some of the disruptions are due to anxiety among foreign crews to come to Israel, and we are in contact with foreign companies in order to quickly return to routine.”

The statement added, “At the same time, we are doing our best to find solutions for passengers whose flights were delayed as a result of the security situation.”

The Hebrew website “Ynet” reported that “foreign companies have stopped their flights, and some of them have been diverted to Cairo.”

The website added, “Following the preemptive strike launched by Israel against Lebanon, and the Hezbollah attack on Israel, there were disruptions in Israeli flights, as flights were diverted to other destinations at 7:00 in the morning, but many flights that were supposed to leave were delayed.

He added, “Several foreign companies, including Air France and Etihad Airways, have announced flight delays.”

The website stated that “this morning, Sunday, there was a disruption in take-off and landing operations at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, and the Civil Aviation Authority announced this this morning, and later the authorities reported that the airport had returned to full capacity, including take-off and landing, and flights that were on their way to the airport were diverted to Ramon Airport (north of Eilat) and Cairo as well. Meanwhile, several foreign companies announced the postponement of flights to and from Israel.”

For its part, Royal Jordanian Airlines suspended all its flights to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in light of the security developments.

Royal Jordanian CEO Samer Majali announced in a statement on Sunday morning the suspension of all flights to Beirut.

The company confirmed in a statement its constant keenness to serve Jordanians and provide them with all necessary facilities, which comes as part of its message and national duty.

The company announced that it would operate three flights on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to transport Jordanian passengers wishing to return from Beirut to the capital, Amman. This comes in response to the directives of the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request Jordanians residing and present in Lebanon to leave Lebanese territory as soon as possible in light of the developments taking place in the region.

The Israeli army announced at dawn on Sunday a “preemptive attack” against the Lebanese factions’ movement, and Lebanese and Israeli sources confirmed that the Israeli army carried out more than 40 raids on areas in southern Lebanon.
