Flight from Mallorca to Vienna: AUA aircraft broken by hail throughout touchdown

An Austrian Airways (AUA) aircraft was broken by hail whereas approaching Vienna Airport in Schwechat on Sunday night. The aircraft however landed safely at Vienna Airport and all passengers have been unhurt.

Particularly affected was flight OS434 from Palma de Mallorca to Vienna. In response to preliminary findings, the 2 entrance cockpit home windows, the nostril of the plane (radome) “and a few panels” have been broken on the Airbus A320, in line with AUA. As a result of incident, the emergency name “Mayday” was initially despatched. The secure touchdown was lastly achieved at 5:55 p.m.

It was not but clear how badly the plane had truly been broken. “The Austrian Airways technical staff has already been tasked with assessing the precise injury to the plane in query,” it was careworn.
