Fliegerclub Traunsee makes you want to take to the air

At its two-day airfield festival in Gschwandt, the Traunsee Aviation Club presented everything to do with flying in order to bring aviation closer to visitors.

It wasn’t just the club’s aircraft that were on display: the army was represented with a Bell 212 and provided information on pilot training in the army. Martin 3, the rescue helicopter from Scharnstein, only had a short guest appearance because it was alerted to an operation immediately following arrival. The police helicopter Libelle, which participated in the fire-fighting exercise, was also a guest.

There were also vintage aircraft to admire: a Russian Yak18 and a US military trainer from the Flying Bulls, flown by former club member Ludwig Reiter. After his training at the Gmunden airfield, he worked as a bush pilot in Africa and in Nepal with Doctors Without Borders.

On Saturday at 11 a.m. there will be the information hour “How to get a pilot’s license” in the Restaurant Landeplatz at the airfield in Gschwandt.
