An unlucky man managed to survive a dangerous flesh-eating bacteria after he was bitten by a relative while trying to break up a fight.

Donnie Adams, a Florida man, was at a family party in Tampa when a fight broke out between two of his relatives. When the man tried to break up the fights, he was bitten by one of them in a blind rage.

The man acted quickly when he immediately went to the hospital to get antibiotics, but his condition suddenly worsened.

The man told the Tampa Bay Times, “On the third day, I felt so much pain in my leg, I couldn’t walk, it was so hot and I was in so much pain.”

After returning to the hospital, his doctor gave him the shocking news, noting that he was suffering from “necrotizing fasciitis”, a serious and rare infection that devours human flesh and can cause death within days.

Doctors noticed the infection growing from his thigh upwards, leaving a bright red streak of infected flesh.

Immediately, the doctors carried out emergency procedures and swept away 70% of the front of Donny’s thigh, saving his leg and possibly his life.

Doctors admitted to the newspaper that they had never seen necrotizing fasciitis come from humans, but they weren’t surprised by what happened. Wound care specialist Fritz Brink, who treated Donny, revealed: “A human bite is dirtier than a dog’s bite in terms of the types of bacteria that grow.”

Donnie took at least three weeks to recover from the surgery, but he is currently in the middle of a six-month program for a full recovery.

Thankfully, he no longer has any functional problems, despite a nasty scar visible on his thigh from the surgery.

For his part, Donny maintained his positive mood towards the whole process as he owes his recovery to both the doctors, as well as regular prayers and meditation. He commented: “What you see now, is not only a scar, but the beauty of its repercussions (the accident).”
