Vice president of football at Flamengo explained why the red-black club does not accept a guarantee from Corinthians by Hugo Souza
Corinthians have until Saturday (30) to close the purchase of goalkeeper Hugo Souza from Flamengo. However, the club boards have not yet reached an agreement on the form of payment. During an interview this Tuesday (25), Augusto de Melo, president of the São Paulo team, spoke about the topic and ended up ‘rebutted’ live by Marcos Braz, Rubro-Negro’s football vice-president.
During an interview with ‘Arena SBT’, Augusto Melo showed confidence in the permanent purchase of the goalkeeper: “We are meeting the deadline, Corinthians does not have that financial situation (to pay). But there is zero chance (of losing Hugo Souza)”, these.
However, Marcos Braz decided to call the program and also give Flamengo’s version of the negotiation. In this way, the agent explained the reasons why the Rio team had not yet accepted the guarantees offered by the Corinthians.
— At no point does Flamengo want to run away from the situation. Flamengo has the size today to accept the mistakes of a negotiation, but never do that. What happens, and then you have to respect the legal rules, the processes, in relation to guarantees. According to what was told to me, the guarantees that were given were the same by Matheuzinho, and we had a problem in relation to Matheuzinho -, he stated.
— Then it would be difficult for Flamengo to receive the same guarantees from a second club asset, guarantees that Flamengo was not satisfied with. To be clear, Flamengo is correct in its negotiations. Football is very small, people know each other -, continued.
— We would never be pressured not to do business. The guarantee that Corinthians gives us today, Flamengo doesn’t feel comfortable, that’s all. But I am absolutely certain that Corinthians will make the purchase within the deadline. But you don’t have to think that it wasn’t enough -, completed.
YOU WILL PAY CHEAP
Hugo Souza is now a starter in Corinthians’ goal and has been standing out in the São Paulo team’s recovery campaign in the Brasileirão. Therefore, Marcos Braz made a point of stating that the Itaquera club will “pay cheap” by the goalkeeper. On the other hand, the director assumes that the business model will be beneficial to Flamengo in the future.
— After he started performing, yes. But he went to Portugal at a lower price than that. The deadline expired and no one exercised. Now, after the work done… Flamengo feels satisfied because this 40% partnership with Corinthians will certainly bear fruit in the future that would be impossible to achieve elsewhere, because at Flamengo Rossi is a starter -, finished.
CORINTHIANS GUARANTEES
In the first attack, Corinthians offered the contract with the company Brax as guarantees. However, this was the brand presented in the sale of Matheuzinho, and Flamengo has not yet received it. Later, the people from São Paulo sat down to talk with Banco Daycoval as a guarantor, again rejected by Mengão, which will do business if a ‘first-class bank’ is placed in the deal.
The Beautiful Game. Where the drama’s always on the pitch, but the real entertainment is in the boardroom. I mean, who doesn’t love a good transfer saga? Today, we’ve got a real treat for you: the thrilling tale of Hugo Souza’s potential move from Flamengo to Corinthians.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Hugo who?” Well, let me fill you in. Hugo Souza is a goalkeeper for Corinthians, currently on loan from Flamengo. And, by all accounts, he’s been doing a smashing job, helping the São Paulo team’s recovery campaign in the Brasileirão.
But, here’s where things get interesting. Flamengo’s vice president of football, Marcos Braz, has been in a bit of a standoff with Corinthians over the terms of the transfer. And, let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride.
According to Braz, Corinthians offered Flamengo some guarantees for the transfer, but Flamengo isn’t having it. Why? Because they’ve been burned before. It turns out that Corinthians used the same brand, Brax, as guarantees in the sale of Matheuzinho, and Flamengo still hasn’t received payment. Oops.
And if that’s not enough, Corinthians then offered Banco Daycoval as a guarantor, but Flamengo rejected that one too. I mean, who wouldn’t want a “first-class bank” involved in the deal? It’s like they’re trying to win some kind of award for “Most Cautious Transfer Deal of the Year.”
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, “What’s the big deal? It’s just a transfer deal.” But, folks, this is where the real drama is. I mean, imagine if your boss tried to pay you in coupons for a pizza parlor. You’d be like, “Uh, no thanks. I’ll take the cash, please.”
And that’s basically what’s happening here. Flamengo wants cold, hard cash, or at least a guarantee that’s worth something. Corona’s not enough, folks. They want the good stuff.
But, despite all the drama, Braz is confident that Corinthians will make the purchase within the deadline. And, when they do, he’s expecting Flamengo to get a pretty penny. After all, as Braz put it, Corinthians will be “paying cheap” for Hugo.
Now, I’m no expert, but it sounds to me like Flamengo is driving a hard bargain. And why not? They’re the ones holding the cards here. Corinthians wants Hugo, and they’re willing to do whatever it takes to get him.
And what about Hugo Souza himself? Well, he just wants to play football, apparently. Good luck with that, mate.
Anyway, there you have it, folks. The transfer saga of the year. Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, keep your fingers crossed that Corinthians and Flamengo can come to an agreement. After all, who doesn’t love a good transfer deal?
PS: If anyone needs me, I’ll be over here, negotiating my own transfer to a first-class bank.
Vice President of Football at Flamengo Explains Why the Club Doesn’t Accept Corinthians’ Guarantee for Hugo Souza
As the deadline for Corinthians to purchase goalkeeper Hugo Souza from Flamengo draws near, tensions are rising between the two clubs. Corinthians has until Saturday (30) to finalize the deal, but the teams are still negotiating the terms of payment. In a recent interview, Flamengo’s Vice President of Football, Marcos Braz, clarified the reasons behind the club’s hesitation in accepting Corinthians’ guarantee.
Initially, Corinthians offered a contract with the company Brax as collateral, which sparked concerns for Flamengo. This brand was also involved in the sale of Matheuzinho, and Flamengo has yet to receive the payment. Braz emphasized that Flamengo is not dodging the situation but rather wants to ensure they receive a reliable guarantee. “We can’t accept the same guarantees that didn’t work for Matheuzinho. It would be difficult for us to receive the same guarantees from a second club asset,” Braz explained.
Corinthians then proposed Banco Daycoval as a guarantor, but Flamengo rejected this offer as well. According to Braz, Flamengo is willing to do business only if a ‘first-class bank’ is involved in the deal. “The guarantee that Corinthians gives us today, Flamengo doesn’t feel comfortable with. We would never be pressured not to do business, but we need to respect the legal rules and processes,” Braz stated.
Cheap Purchase Price for Corinthians
Despite the delays, Braz is confident that Corinthians will meet the deadline and finalize the purchase. However, he pointed out that the club will be getting a good deal on Hugo Souza, who has excelled as a starter in Corinthians’ goal and contributed significantly to the team’s recent success. “Corinthians will pay cheap for Hugo Souza, but Flamengo is satisfied with the 40% partnership, which will bear fruit in the future. This business model will be beneficial to us in the long run,” Braz concluded.
