The XXIII Seville Flamenco Biennial It starts in September and does so with a host of activities that bring the city to a standstill, with flamenco art as its main focus. Among the activities parallel to the event, cinema plays a leading role thanks to the Three Cultures Foundationwhich will focus its Movie Tuesday from September to October 1 to screen films from the world of flamenco.
As a point of interest, access is completely free at the Tres Culturas Foundation (Hassan II Pavilion, C. Max Planck, 2, 41092 Seville), although prior registration is required for each session at the Official website. All invitations are available until full capacity is reached. The films will be screened from 8:30 p.m.
The cycle begins on Tuesday, September 3 with the premiere of the documentary Antonio Mairena, the root of singing (2023), directed by the filmmaker Paco Millan. This 73-minute film delves into the figure of the singer and flamencologist from Mairena del Alcor under the gaze of ShaunTracka music promoter on social media. A 73-minute Austrian film that shows a modern and unique image of the coexistence between gypsies and non-gypsies that contradicts all stereotypes and prejudices. Five protagonists demonstrate that conflict-free coexistence is possible and that art plays an essential role in this.
