“Unfortunately, the 1: 3 in Dornbirn had the same characteristics as many games before: We played, the opponent scored the goals.” It was not the first time this season that the violets clearly dominated an early phase, left out top-class players and got the arrears through carelessness. Coach Suchard makes the routine in this matter as a decisive factor. “The players are young, they have to have this experience. Our focus remains – both in team and individual training – scoring goals. We’ll continue to work hard to make that switch to being hard-nosed, then we’ll start the game with a lead.”
stay positive
Suchard makes no secret of the fact that a deficit can cause a mental setback, especially for young players. In contrast to the previous season, however, his team would have stabilized significantly following conceding goals. “The waste isn’t as brutal as it was last year. We try to remind the team of our game plan from the coaching zone or the dressing room, to send them positive signals!”
After the extremely hard red card once morest Ibra Dramé, the game in Dornbirn was over. The young violets ran into two counterattacks and only managed to get a goal through Leo Ivkic. “It wasn’t the better team that won, but the more efficient team,” says the head coach, summing up the first third of the season quite positively. Coach and team had created a good foundation to cause problems for all league opponents.
