The German Goods and Products Testing Authority warned of the existence of serious security vulnerabilities related to Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) in three widespread routers.

The authority stated that the devices are: Asus 4G-N16 (Wireless-N300 LTE Modem Router), D-Link DWR-933 (4G/LTE Cat 6 Wi-Fi Hotspot), and TP-Link Archer MR500 (4G+ Cat6 AC1200 WLAN Dual Band Gigabit Router). .

The experts of the German authority explained that the gaps in the three devices allow hackers to use them to access the WLAN in order to view network traffic, steal data from devices in the WLAN, or use Internet access for malicious purposes.
And Asus announced that the device software (firmware) should be updated as soon as possible as an immediate solution to make the router secure once more, by turning off the WPS function in the settings.
D-Link provides the firmware update on April 21, but until then the WPS-PIN code can be changed for more security, because turning off WPS does not make the device safe unlike the Asus device.
TP-Link has already released a firmware update that should be installed immediately to make the device secure once more.
