Seizure and search of Gunpo City Hall for ‘Korea Integrated Logistics Employment Preference’… Aiming at opposition (comprehensive)
Han Dae-hee, former mayor’s chief of staff, and Lee Hak-young’s aide are in line for investigation by the prosecution.

On the 1st, the prosecution, which investigates suspicions of corruption such as preferential employment at Korea Complex Logistics, an affiliate of CJ Group, launched a compulsory investigation into Gunpo City Hall and others.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office’s Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-cheol) is securing data by sending prosecutors and investigators to Gunpo City Hall and the residences of Korean complex logistics officials this morning.

The prosecution launched an investigation following believing that Mr. A, former chief of staff of former Gunpo Mayor Han Dae-hee, exerted unfair influence to ask for a specific person to be hired by Korea Complex Logistics during the former mayor’s tenure (2018-2022).

In addition to Mr. A’s crime, the prosecution also captured the involvement of Mr. B, an aide to Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Hak-young, and searched his home.

Rep. Lee is in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, where Korea Integrated Logistics is located.

Prosecutors are planning to investigate the allegations, believing that they may have made a ‘job solicitation’ at the request or instruction of the former mayor or lawmaker Lee, as long as they are superiors.

It is known that the former mayor Han’s home was also included in the search and seizure target that day.

Prosecutors are also investigating allegations of irregularities in the employment of Korea Complex Logistics by Lee Jung-geun, former vice secretary general of the Democratic Party of Korea.

After losing the general election in April 2020, Lee served as a full-time advisor to the company for one year from August of the same year.

In the process, there is a prospect that the investigation may expand to the opposition, including former mayor Han, due to the suspicion that former Blue House chief of staff Noh Young-min exerted influence on former vice-president Lee’s employment.
