FromSoftware’s Elden Ring launched last week to overwhelmingly positive reviews but some issues prevented some players from enjoying the game to the fullest.
Over the weekend, one of these issues was resolved. If you’ve been playing through the title on Xbox, you’ve probably seen that you can’t play Elden Ring online because of an error message that says “Network status check failed,” Microsoft’s Larry Major Nelson Harb said Saturday.
The problem has been resolved.
Neither FromSoftware nor publisher Bandai Namco has said what caused the problem, but it has prevented people from doing things like summoning other players to help them in boss fights. At its core, Elden Ring is a single-player game, but these elements add a lot to the experience.
The graphics team worked hard on improving ELDEN RING for Steam Deck.
The fixes for severe stuttering while streaming assets in the background will be available in the Proton release next week, but it’s now available for testing in the Experimental beta branch. pic.twitter.com/5oSnXtF2OG

For some other Elden Ring issues, especially those related to the PC version of the game, FromSoftware and Bandai are still working on them. If you’ve been waiting to play the game on Steam Deck, the good news is that Valve said it’s working on optimizing the game for its new mobile device and will update Proton this week to improve performance.
