The killer, armed with a long-barreled rifle and a katana, had been mortally wounded by the GIGN following hiding all night in the family home.

The five victims of the family murder perpetrated in Dover (Ain) on the night of July 19 to 20 were all killed with knives, “probably” in their sleep, the Bourg-en-Bresse prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.
“The autopsies have established that all the victims were mortally wounded by a knife,” Bourg prosecutor Christophe Rode told AFP, confirming information from the newspaper Le Progrès.
“It is likely that the victims were beaten in their sleep, but it is difficult to determine the order in which the assaults were committed.”
He was mortally wounded on Wednesday by the GIGN following hiding all night in the house, refusing to surrender.
“Presumably the victims were beaten in their sleep, but it is difficult to determine the order in which the assaults were committed, even if it is probable that the couple were killed first”, also declared Christophe Rode .
