ORAN – The winners of the Hackathon for innovative solutions in the field of the blue economy, organized as part of the 9th International Fisheries and Aquaculture Exhibition (SIPA 2024) were awarded Saturday.
The awards ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Fisheries and Fisheries Production Ahmed Badani, in the presence of the President of the High Commission of the Arabic Language, Salah Belaïd, and the representative of the Ministry of Digitization and Startups, and the president of the “Algeria Venture” startup accelerator Sid-Ali Zerrouki.
Five innovative projects in the fields of fishing, aquaculture, shipbuilding, biotechnology and waste management were awarded prizes.
The first, “Marine Arc”, concerns the design of a trawler for optimal exploitation on the high seas, emphasizing efficiency, safety and sustainability while respecting environmental standards.
The second, “Aqua Plus”, is a project on sustainable and environmentally friendly aquaculture, integrating the concept of circular economy for organic food production without waste, all year round.
The third “Marine Association” project is a design for a radio-controlled marine depollution machine, designed to clean ports of plastic pollution, offering an effective and practical solution to preserve maritime waters.
The fourth project “Biological Farm Alkiram” is that of a biotechnology start-up specializing in the cultivation of micro-algae for various industries, offering innovative solutions for food, food supplements and cosmetic products.
The fifth award-winning project “Hydrogenamic” offers eco-friendly solutions for the maritime industry, with hydrogen-based fuel and sustainable practices to reduce pollution and preserve marine ecosystems.
The “BlueHack SIPA 2024” is a hackathon of innovative solutions in the field of the blue economy, organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Fisheries Production in collaboration with the Blue Economy Program (a program initiated as part of the partnership between the same ministry and the European Union), said the communications officer for the Blue Economy program, Leila Hamadouche, on the sidelines of the ceremony.
Entitled “BlueHack SIPA 2024”, this hackathon was the subject of a national call for applications around five themes, namely fishing, aquaculture, maritime engineering and naval architecture, marine biotechnology and pollution. navy, she added, noting that around a hundred applications were received.
“Its objective is to mobilize talents, stimulate creativity and address challenges linked to the diversification of economic activities in the field of the blue economy,” she said.
