Following the emergency caused by a strong gale that affected the inhabitants of the municipality of Timbiquí, in the department of Cauca, the Colombian Air Force deployed a major humanitarian operation to transport aid from the national government to the victims.

The mission was coordinated between the Vice Ministry for Defense and Security Policies, the Mobility Headquarters, the Military Air Transport Command and the Air Combat Command No. 7 of the Air Institution, managing to transport, in a Casa 295 aircraft, a total of 5.2 tons of humanitarian aid, which included 240 food kits, kitchen items and hygiene kits, destined for these families affected by the natural disaster.

The supplies, delivered by local authorities with the support of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management, were taken to the Marco Fidel Suárez Air Base, where they were quickly loaded onto the aircraft, which took off in the morning bound for the Timbiquí airport.

Once Casa 295 landed, the military, Civil Defense and the community collaborated in the unloading of humanitarian aid, to be delivered to the Secretary of Government, Miguel Hurtado, and finally distributed to the 912 people belonging to the 246 families affected by this meteorological phenomenon on the Pacific coast of Cauca.

The Colombian Air Force will continue to carry out air operations that reflect its unwavering commitment to its citizens, supporting them in emergency situations and working hand in hand with all State institutions to provide immediate assistance to affected families.
