Nintendo’s little pink ball is back in Kirby and the Forgotten Landa brand new 3D game that has only one goal: to brighten our days.
Don’t look for challenges Soulsborne, we are in a completely different register here and that’s good! Except maybe for Kirby’s Adventure on NES, it’s impossible to rage once morest a game from the franchise. I firmly believe that Kirby was created for the sole purpose of making us happy, because it’s impossible not to smile when you see him!
So we know what to expect with Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The new Switch game doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but sometimes it feels good to get back to the comfort of your old slippers.
We forget everything around us
When you’re sucked into Kirby’s world, you forget regarding all the hassles and worries of the day. The game has been developed in such a way that one is engulfed in joy, colors and cheerful music. It’s the perfect game to play following a bad day at the office.
The game is really easy, and there is an even easier mode!
We don’t rack our brains with cryptic puzzles in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The tables are simple, without falling into boredom. Despite its ease, the game still offers enough challenges for us to feel that we are just working a little bit. Want a little more accessibility for the youngest (or even the oldest!)? There is an even easier mode, perfect for gamers budding.
A real fun day for two
Kirby and the Forgotten can be enjoyed alone, but with a friend, it’s even more fun! It’s the perfect game to play with young children and will be a great introduction to platform games for the little ones. Additionally, there are a few unlockable mini-games in the Waddle Dee Village that are really fun to play together.
The music is surprisingly intoxicating
Of the game’s entire soundtrack, there’s not one song that gets on your nerves. I was even surprised by the up-to-date tone of some of the board music and it’s refreshing to hear in a game like Kirby.
Varied level design
Despite the ease of the levels, the developers managed to provide us with a variety of designs. Don’t expect anything as ambitious as a Mario, for example. But there are enough differences in gameplay and game mechanics to make the game gripping. Moreover, the powers Mouthful Modewhere Kirby absorbs an object and becomes one with it, adds a level to the style of play that makes the adventure enjoyable and interesting.
Is the game worth it?
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a real pleasure to play. The few powers, which can be upgraded by finding blueprints through the adventure, keep the player engaged until the end.
The game’s focus has also been on collectables, as well as puzzles and mystery challenges placed here and there, which makes up for the low difficulty of the game. Although this might put off veteran players looking for of a challenge, it does rather a service to the game and makes Kirby and the Forgotten Land an ultra accessible and fun adventure.
However, we recommend waiting for the game to go on sale. Although this one is fun, it only takes 9 hours to complete the main story and 22 hours to complete it 100% (in both game difficulties). So it’s a bit expensive for an $80 game.
That being said, Kirby and the Forgotten Land really remains a balm that does a lot of good!
