Five planets will be aligned this weekend, when and how to observe them?

This celestial spectacle will take place shortly before dawn, around 5 am. It will last 45 minutes, until sunrise. To observe it, it will be necessary to look in the direction of the constellation of Aquarius. It is advisable to move away from all areas of light pollution and to favor a place with a clear horizon.

To locate you more easily, the application “ Sky Tonight will locate the five planets in the sky, thanks to augmented reality. If you don’t have a telescope or binoculars, no problem, the phenomenon may be visible to the naked eye (except for Neptune, which is less luminous). And if you miss the date scheduled for the alignment, it will still be possible to observe it a few days later, even if June 17 remains the best day.

What order of appearance?

From the earth, the five stars will thus appear perfectly aligned, as if on an invisible thread, above the horizon line. Saturn will appear first, followed by Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury and finally Uranus. This obviously remains an optical illusion, linked to a question of angle and point of view from our planet.

The website Starwalk points out that “not all parts of the world have the same vision of planetary alignments”. Depending on the position of the Earth, “some planets may not be visible from your place of residence”.
