The occasion of Eid is like a booster dose for the Pakistani film industry, but cinemas were closed on Eid-ul-Fitr for the last two years due to Corona.
However, now by God’s grace cinemas are opening and thus this sweet Eid for cinema is coming after three years. The condition of cinema in Pakistan is very bad and the number of cinemas in the country has decreased.
According to the latest data, there are currently 57 cinemas and 139 screens left in the country, some of which have not yet opened after being closed during the Corona era.
A few of them are likely to reopen by Eid. Before the corona virus, there were 165 cinema screens in the country.
If we look at the four films to be screened this Eid-ul-Fitr, while big stars like Saba Qamar and Neelam Munir are seen, there are also Imran Ashraf and Amar Khan who started their journey in the film world.
All four films are from big banners, so the competition is likely to be quite tough.
It should also be kept in mind that immediately after Eid, the Hollywood film ‘Doctor Strange’ is also showing in cinemas from May 6.
The film continues the story of ‘Spider-Man No Way Home’ and given the success of Spider-Man, it is easy to say that it will take away enough screens from Pakistani films.
The movie plays in the cinema and to watch it one has to leave the house and buy a ticket.
This is the reason why success at the cinema box office is considered the real success of an actor. That is why filmmakers cast actors in the film keeping in mind the star power.
Here is a brief overview of upcoming films on Eid-ul-Fitr
‘don’t panic’
Named after the famous Zamana Bayan of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the name of this film has become common, but the story of this film is not political but humorous.
Due to Saba Qamar, the star power of this film is more than the other three films, which are returning to the big screen after five years.
Her last Pakistani film ‘Lahoor Se Aayy’ came in late 2016 while her only Bollywood film ‘Hindi Medium’ opposite Irrfan Khan came in mid-2017.
‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ is a story full of light humor and Saba Qamar plays the lead role.
The film is accompanied by Syed Gibran and Zahid Ahmed, whose debut film this is. Zahid Ahmed plays the role of a police inspector and Syed Gibran plays the role of a prankster.
Movie Poster (IMDB)
The film also stars Sohail Ahmed, whose name still sells cinema tickets at least in Punjab. Apart from this, John Rambo is also making an appearance.
This film is a joint production of Hasan Zia and Jameel Baig. Hasan Zia has previously made Roang No. 1 and 2 as well as ‘Meharalansa We Love You’, all of which were successful at the box office.
It looks like a good masala film for Eid and we expect a good spirited performance from Saba Qamar.
In case of success of the film, we are likely to get two new film faces like Syed Gibran and Zahid Ahmed.
This film is directed by Saqib Khan, whose first film is this.
The film relies heavily on story and sentences and that’s what makes it stand out. The test of the film will be whether this masala succeeds in making people sit in the cinema for two and a half hours or not.
“Drunk tail”
The trailer of this movie has impressed a lot. It is a very cinematic presentation that gives a clear glimpse of the golden era of the Pakistani film industry.
The lead roles of the film are played by Amar Khan and Imran Ashraf, whose debut film this is.
It is a story born in a neighborhood of Lahore where boy and girl want to become movie stars and it is written by Amar Khan himself.
The special thing about the film is that not one but five musicians have composed the music, including Azaan Sami Khan, Shiraz Appal, Bilal Saeed, Naveed Nashad, while the film has a total of 11 songs. This film has been directed by Ehtishamuddin who has given a film like ‘Superstar’ before this.
This is Imran Ashraf’s first film (IMDB).
Amar Khan has already made a mark in cinema with his item songs. The song ‘Lakki Achari’ is very filmy and Pakistani cinema needs songs and dances like this that can pull people into the cinema.
The film’s producer Adnan Siddiqui has worked in Bollywood and Hollywood apart from Pakistan and this is his first film as a producer. He has made full use of his experience in making this film.
Sohail Ahmed is also in this film and his lines in the trailer are sure to make you smile. Imran Ashraf’s role as a Punjabi boy is looking interesting.
‘Let it stay in the veil’
Women are often blamed for not having children in Pakistani society, on this social problem director Wajahat Rauf has made this film which, although humorous, is pointing out a very important and serious issue.
Making a film on the issue of male fatherhood is a problem in stereotypical society, but producer Shazia Wajahat’s production looks interesting in the trailer.
Hania Aamir and Ali Rehman are playing the lead roles in this film. Hania Aamir has previously given films like ‘Namaum Aadhar 2’ and ‘Parvaaz Hai Junoon’, while Ali Rehman also has films like ‘Jaanaan’ and ‘Parchi’ to his name.
Hania Aamir has more than 5 million followers on social media, but it remains to be seen how many of them buy tickets.
Haniya Aamir and Ali Rehman are playing the lead roles in the film (Pakistani.pk).
One song released so far from this film is ‘Pella Rang’ which is a colorful film song and fulfilling the film demand of Thamke.
The duration of the film is 90 minutes and it is the shortest Eid film. Director Wajahat Rauf has earlier films like ‘Chhalawa,’ ‘Lahore Se Aaye’ and ‘Karachi Se Lahore’ to his name, so he is quite optimistic about this film.
In 2019, his film ‘Chhalava’ earned around Rs 18 crore on Eid.
The film is garnering a lot of attention due to its untouchable subject matter.
‘dizzy’
Released on Eid-ul-Fitr, the film is quite different from the other three films as it is not a comedy or romance but a mystery murder story filled with curiosity.
In this film, Neelam Munir is playing the lead role of twin sisters, accompanied by Ahsan Khan and the director of this film, Yasir Nawaz. Yasir Nawaz is playing the role of a police inspector in this film.
The song ‘Chidiya’ released so far is garnering a lot of attention.
Famous TV host Nida Yasir is the producer of this film, and she has done all the responsibilities behind the scenes and will not come forward.
Both playing the role of Hum Shukal and filming it is quite a difficult and demanding task, in this sense the film will be a huge test of Neelam and Yasir Nawaz’s skills.
Neelam Munir plays twin sisters in the film (Wikipedia).
But Yasir Nawaz has previously filmed the double role of Danish Taimur in his film Wrong No. 1, so it might not have been too difficult for him.
A murder mystery story is always of interest to the public so the film can gain attention and in 2019, the film ‘Wrong No 2’ starring Yasir Nawaz and Neelam Munir was the highest grossing film of the year.
The duration of the film is two hours and five minutes and is very suitable for modern cinema.
If we look at the star power of the films, then the sequence of films coming on Eid will be like this
‘Ghabrana hai,’ ‘Chakar,’ ‘Let it stay in the curtain’ and ‘Dum Mastam.’ However if we benchmark the trailer and the songs released so far, the order would be, ‘Dum Mastam,’ ‘Parde Mein Rahe Do,’ ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai,’ ‘Chakar.’
‘Protect your millet’
Finally, let us tell you that on this Eid-ul-Fitr, Pakistan’s veteran director Syed Noor’s Punjabi film ‘Tere Bajre Di Rakhi’ is also being screened.
The film stars Saima, Babar Ali, Mustafa Qureshi among many 90s film stars, and from the trailer, the film seems to be largely a story of that era.
The most interesting and special thing about this film is that Jannat Mirza is starting her film journey with it.
Jannat Mirza is the biggest Tik Tok star of Pakistan and she has two and a half million followers on Tik Tok.
