Major Fire Engulfs Takeaway Restaurant in North London
## Residents Advised to Keep Windows and Doors Closed as Crews Battle Flames in Holloway
A devastating fire ripped through a takeaway restaurant in Holloway, leaving two flats above damaged and five people hospitalized with smoke inhalation.
Around 100 firefighters and 12 fire engines descended on Seven Sisters Road just before 4:00am Thursday, November 28, after calls reported a blaze at a dessertshop restaurant located on the ground floor. Flames quickly engulfed the building, destroying the restaurant and causing significant damage to flats on the first and second stories.
“There were numerous calls to our 999 control room, the first coming in at 3:45am,” stated London Fire Brigade (LFB) Station Commander Mike Watts. “Due to the intense nature of the blaze, firefighters were on the scene immediately, deploying a variety of tactics to contain the spread
of flames and rescue any potential trapped occupants.”
Five people were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to nearby hospitals with smoke inhalation, according to a spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by both the LFB and the Metropolitan Police.
Road closures remain in effect on Seven Sisters Road, particularly during peak commuting hours, as firefighters continue to monitor the situation. The LFB advises the public to avoid the area and stay away despite the initial blaze being under control.
“The fire produced substantial smoke in the vicinity, prompting us to strongly advise residents to keep their windows and doors closed,” added Station Commander Watts. “We ask the public to be patient and avoid the area to allow our crews to complete their work and ensure the safety of everyone.”
What is the current condition of the individuals who were treated for smoke inhalation due to the Holloway fire?

**Commander Watts:** My pleasure. It’s tragic to see such destruction, but I’m grateful our teams were able to respond quickly and minimize further damage.
**Host:** Can you tell us about the early stages of the response?
**Commander Watts:** We received numerous calls around 3:45 am reporting a fire at a restaurant on Seven Sisters Road. The blaze was already significant by the time we arrived, so we immediately deployed 12 fire engines and around 100 firefighters.

**Host:** What are you focusing on now?
**Commander Watts:** Our investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire while our crews continue to monitor the situation and ensure
the area is safe. We urge residents to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke lingering in the area.
