Raffaele Fitto will be (or should be) executive vice president of the European Commission with responsibility for the economy and the PNRR. This is what the German newspaper Die Welt writes, which gives some previews of the composition of the next Commission of Ursula von der Leyen. There will be four executive vice presidents.
Latvian Valdis Dombrovskis is expected to be the executive vice-president in charge of “enlargement and reconstruction of Ukraine”. Spanish socialist Teresa Ribera, former minister for ecological transition, will be in charge of “transition” as executive vice-president. French liberal Thierry Breton will lead “Industry and strategic autonomy”. Dutch Wopke Hoekstra is expected to be the new European Commissioner for Trade. The new European Commissioner for Energy will be the current Czech Industry Minister Josef Sikela.
