Fitness guru Richard Simmons has left us

We are reached by the sad news that the fitness guru and TV personality Richard Simmons passed away Friday, July 13, 2024, at his home in Hollywood Hills, California. He was 76 years old.

Simmons, born Milton Teagle Simmons on July 12, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, became known for his infectious energy and focus on health and fitness. He opened several gyms in Los Angeles in the 1970s and 80s and released a series of popular exercise videos. Simmons was known for his flamboyant persona and his motivational catchphrases, such as “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!“.

In addition to his work in fitness, Simmons was also a successful actor and comedian. He appeared in several TV shows, including “Slim Down with Richard Simmons” and “The Richard Simmons Show“. He also recorded a series of music albums, including “Disco Beaver” and “Eat to Be Fit“.
