Fishing prohibited in certain Walloon rivers from Tuesday due to drought

This ban will come into force on Tuesday July 26 and will be in effect until August 12. The objective is to ensure the well-being of fish already stressed by the difficult climatic conditions.

The mixed water and whitewater areas of the Amblève, Haine, Lesse, Moselle, Ourthe and Vesdre sub-basins are affected by the ban, as is the whitewater zone of the Sambre sub-basin.

Concerning the Meuse, fishing will be temporarily prohibited in the upstream sub-basin in all mixed water areas and in whitewater areas with the exception of Bocq, Hermeton, Leffe stream and by Feron. The downstream sub-basin is also concerned and fishermen will not be able to set up near the mixed water zone with the exception of the Mehaigne between the Moulin d’Avennes up to the confluence with the Meuse, nor near the whitewater zone with the exception of the Hoyoux, the Gueule and the Awirs stream.

Finally, in the Semois-Chiers sub-basin, fishing is temporarily prohibited in mixed water and whitewater areas with the exception of Ton and Chevratte.
