Fish contain high levels of mercury…eating them causes dementia

Health experts consider fish “brain food” thanks to its high content of “omega-3”, but they warn that excessive intake of some types of them may lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

Mercury is a neurotoxin that has been found to be the possible cause of cognitive decline in humans exposed to it, so it is possible that eating Fish high in mercury is associated with dementia.

“Fortunately, the risk of developing Alzheimer’s does not rise until you eat a large amount of high-mercury fish on a regular basis. Therefore, it is important to identify the types of fish that are high in this compound to avoid overeating.”

“Fishes that contain high levels of mercury are often saltwater predators, such as swordfish, shark and mackerel,” he added.
