“Although we had to hold the races once more (as in 2023) in Aufach am Schatzberg, the slope and the terrain once once more proved to be fully suitable for Masters.
A great starting field of 230 registered athletes in the giant slalom and 200(!) in the slalom show a high level of interest in Masters racing! A total of 16 nations took part, with our ÖSV Masters at the top, of course, which were represented by 93 women and men.
Kelchsau & Wildschönau are absolute centers of excellence in Masters racing! The two ski clubs, SV Kelchsau under the leadership of Chairman Josef “Josel” Erharter and SV Wildschönau with chairman Christoph Brugger (of course everyone and their team) ensured a great event.
Although two giant slalom races on one day (Saturday) push the limits of endurance – for both the piste team and the runners – the races were completed well and, above all, without any accidents.
The Masters once once more thanked the organizer with top performances (although we can say that, with a few exceptions, the entire top field in Masters racing came). We would still like to highlight a few athletes:
- Doris Bergnerdaily winner in RTL Cat. Women C
- Monika Hörhagerdaily winner in RTL and SL Cat. Women D
- Paul Fuchsdaily winner RTL and SL Cat. Men B
- Rainer Herbdaily winner RTL Cat. Men A
- Larsen Kjetil Fladmark (NOR), winner of the day SL Cat. Men A
Further details and class winners can be found at www.skizeit.at.
It was a thoroughly successful racing event, which concluded with worthy award ceremonies at the Niederau village square and on the Kogelhof terrace.
Many thanks once more to everyone who contributed to the success of the FIS Masters races in Wildschönau,
Peter Deutscher
