First Ukrainian refugees in Chile: a married couple

An elderly Ukrainian couple is the first to ask refuge to Chile due to the conflict that is being developed in his country and in view of this situation, the Government immediately agreed to the request.

As reported Thirdthe couple left in December last year from Ukraine to spend the end of the year festivities with his son, who has lived in our country for almost a decade, and get to know some of the most typical areas between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.

When they left on that occasion, the atmosphere was already tense in Kievcapital of Ukraine, and the 70-year-old couple was in for a surprise when the Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the invasion of Ukrainian territory on February 24

One day following the conflict broke out in Eastern Europe the older couple decided to order stay in our country under the provision of refugees and required Immigration to be able to benefit from the Law 20,430which was accepted by the Government.

Ukrainian citizens invoked section four of article 2 of the Refugee Law, which states that “although at the time of leaving their country of nationality or habitual residence they did not have refugee statusfully satisfy the inclusion conditions as a consequence of events that occurred following on your way out.”

The Government immediately endorsed the request of both Ukrainians waiting for the end of the war to allow them to return to their country of origin.
