Attorney Nam Wook, who was released early this morning following a year of being arrested for corruption in the development of Daejang-dong, appeared at the trial on the suspicion of preferential treatment in Daejang-dong today and continued to argue that “there was a stake in Mayor Lee Jae-myung.”

Attorney Nam Wook, who was questioned by the prosecution as a witness at the trial on the suspicion of corruption in Daejang-dong, which was held as a hearing in the 22nd Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court, said, “I heard from Mr. Man-bae Kim from January 2015, and I knew that the stake in Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1 was the stake of Mayor Lee Jae-myeong.” He reiterated the position he had made in the previous trial.

When the prosecution asked, “Why didn’t you make a statement during the investigation a year ago?”, he said, “There was an election, and as soon as I entered the country, I was arrested and investigated, and I was distracted. To be honest, I was scared.”

Attorney Nam-wook also explained, “Through Mr. Kim Man-bae, Mayor Lee Jae-myeong took part in the project in order to persuade him to give up public development and allow private development.”

Attorney Nam, who was released earlier today at around 0 o’clock, said “I’m sorry” and headed to a hotel in Seoul.
