Its creation was voted on a year ago by the Grand Council, it is now operational. This Monday, August 15, students in vocational training will experience the first start of the Neuchâtel Professional Center (CPNE).
Born from the merger of Cifom (Neuchâtel Mountains Interregional Training Center), CPLN (Neuchâtel Littoral Professional Center), CPMB (Professional Center for Building Trades) and the professional sector of the Lycée Jean-Piaget, it is made up of of eight poles, “organized by areas of skills and training”, specifies the service of post-compulsory training and orientation (SFPO), in a press release sent this Friday, August 11.
“The CPNE allows the establishment of centralized sectors, better readability and increased promotion of the offer of initial, higher and continuing vocational training in the canton”, specifies the document.
Still a little respite for high school students
The students of the three high schools in the canton will return to school or go to class on Monday August 22. In this 2022-2023 school year, 2,551 young people will follow either gymnasium training or general training. With 22 less registered compared to last year, the numbers are stable.
About 50 Ukrainian students will be integrated into the various post-compulsory training courses. Twenty students join the “French as a foreign language” (FLE) classes at the Lycée Jean-Piaget in Neuchâtel or the Lycée Blaise-Cendrars in La Chaux-de-Fonds and 27 students start in a “Youth in transition” (JET) class at the CPNE .
“Students who follow FLE courses join cantonal high schools at the same time as auditors for gymnasium maturity, vocational maturity or a general culture school certificate. Pupils who have the necessary language skills were able to be integrated into ordinary classes, ”says the SFPO.
