Austria’s paraski aces presented themselves in top form at the start of the new World Cup season. At the start in St. Moritz, Veronika and Johannes Aigner each celebrated a victory in the giant slalom. Barbara Aigner completes a strong ÖSV result with third place.
Among the visually impaired women, Veronika Aigner (with guide and sister Elisabeth) set the fastest time in both runs and distanced the second-placed Italian Chiara Mazzel by 1.90 seconds. Third was sister Barbara Aigner with guide Klara Sykora (+5.05).
Superior victory for Johannes Aigner
Johannes Aigner dominated the field of visually impaired men with guide Matteo Fleischmann. In the end, the Lower Austrian had a lead of 6.33 seconds over Frenchman Hyacinthe Deleplace. Pole Michal Golas (+6.70) came in third.
Nico Pajantschitsch, the best Austrian, took seventh place in the standing men. He is 6.48 seconds behind the winner Arthur Bauchet from France. Markus Salcher was eleventh (+9.13), Thomas Grochar was eliminated in the first round.
In St. Moritz there are still three slalom competitions on the program from Friday to Sunday.
