Last week, Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement to export grains stranded in a port in southern Ukraine.

The first shipment is over and we are just waiting for departure.

One of the obstacles to the resumption of grain exports has also been resolved.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the site of a grain shipment in progress at the port of Chornomorsk in southern Odessa.

“Our side is fully prepared. We have sent all signals to our partners, including the United Nations and Turkiye, and our military guarantees safety.”

The first shipment of a Turkiye vessel to export Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea has been completed.

It remains to be seen by the United Nations on a safe route for ships to navigate in the mines.

“We want everyone involved to keep their promises. We want both our ships and our people to be safe.”

In the midst of this, one of the obstacles to the resumption of Ukraine’s grain exports, the issue of ship insurance, has been resolved.

The International Association of Insurers, insurers and brokers have agreed to provide sea freight and war insurance for grain that Ukraine will export via the Black Sea.

Insurance coverage is up to $50 million, or regarding $65 billion.

In the beginning, insurance companies were of the position that the international community might escort export ships with naval ships and underwrite insurance only if there was a clear strategy to solve the mine problem.

Earlier on the 22nd, Ukraine, Russia, the United Nations and Turkiye agreed to ensure the safety of sea routes so that grains tied to Ukrainian ports can be exported to the Black Sea.

Expectations are growing that if exports resume in earnest, 25 million tons of grain will be supplied within this year, helping to breathe life into the world food crisis.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has claimed that a Syrian vessel carrying barley and flour suspected of being stolen by Russia is in the Lebanon port of Tripoli.

Russia denies that it is exporting Ukrainian grains, despite repeated criticisms from the West.
