Excellence: It is a great achievement that the Moroccan company First Plastics has just won by receiving the Guinness World Records Trophy. Its very resistant CPVC tube has been designed to preserve the virtues of tap water unlike PVC. Top management intends to make this a major argument to further penetrate the Moroccan market. He strongly recommends this type of installation for new constructions, especially during this period of preparations for the World Cup. The message is clear.

First Plastics has just received the Guinness World Records Trophy for its hit CPVC under Lubrizol USA license labeled “Flowguard”. For 25 years, the Moroccan company has been manufacturing PVC tubes and it is only recently that it has decided to launch into the production of the most pressure-resistant tube in the world. “We are what we do out of habit. Excellence is not an act but a habit. Nabil Safieddine, president of the company First Plastics, will identify with the thought of Aristotle… Of Lebanese origin, the man who lived in several countries of which Saudi Arabia realized, upon arriving in Morocco, that the so-called CPVC tube did not exist on the local market even though it had become commonplace in the Middle East.

The PVC tube is, in fact, the one most commonly used in all infrastructures. But the difference is significant. And the man will skillfully argue on the subject to convince an audience not necessarily aware of the latest technologies on the subject. With a PVC installation, the water which leaves the Authority, which is potable and complies with WHO standards, finds itself contaminated by all bacteria and limescale deposits on arrival. The impact on health can only be negative. Respiratory problems may result. The speaker will go further: “The steam we breathe is contaminated even though we wash our face every morning with it and shower with it.”

Conversely, CPVC protects the water distribution by its very strong resistance. And this is why the founder of First Plastics chose the American leader in CPVC tube, Lubrizol – created in 1959 – to launch its own manufacturing under license. “We chose CPVC because nothing clings to the tube. And we initially arrived at 110 bars of pressure, which represents an excellent performance. Our efforts were rewarded when we reached 208 bars. We bid for Guinness at a loss and following two years, the news came and we won the Trophy,” declared Mr. Safieddine, not without a touch of pride. His Moroccanness, well anchored, for around thirty years, the man feels Moroccan and will pay tribute to his teams who knew how to use the American license to make it a flagship for the Moroccan economy. It will be clearly understood that the tube which won such a label offers a complementary solution which takes into account the “security” criterion.

It is, in fact, UV resistant, non-flammable, does not allow bacteria to spread… The advantages are significant knowing that it is not more expensive than PVC tube. “Our objective is to retrain Moroccan clients and households so that they now use CPVC. And we plan to communicate through the appropriate media channels to achieve this,” continues the manager. Confident in the future, the president of First Plastics intends to penetrate the Moroccan market with this new product, particularly in new constructions. For now, the toilets at Cheikh Khalifa and Cheikh Zaid hospitals have adopted this tube. And the business manager will point out that the deadlines set for preparation for the World Cup would be a perfect opportunity to carry out a reconversion in the choice of sanitary tubes. The company which has trained 3,500 plumbers is committed to supporting this approach by offering a 75-year guarantee for such a tube. The call is on!

The export business continues, for its part, to develop with a share today of 40% of overall turnover. The countries placing orders are mainly Mali, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Lebanon and Qatar. Russia was also a customer and for some time England had been attracted to First Plastics’ products. With this global recognition, the Moroccan company has climbed into the big leagues and intends to catch up with the trend and promote its performance throughout the world.
