USP Running is organizing the first edition of the Grand Trail des Salamandres in Poinçonnet, this Sunday, May 14. Three formats are offered, to run solo or in teams.

USP Running innovates. Finished the Strides of the Forest, organized for more than 15 years, place now at the Grand Trail des Salamandres. “The desire to find new motivations was born. We also felt a need for novelty among the runners”, explains Denis Bénard, the secretary of the organizing association. The first edition of this new event takes place this Sunday, May 14 in the city of Poinçonnet.

Technical and natural circuits

Three formats are on the program: 42 km (solo, relay in pairs or fours), 5 km and a cani-cross. So that the greatest number of people can participate, the organization wanted to create two relays to make the marathon accessible.

“It is an essential element, he points out. Everyone is not able to run a half and even less a marathon”. And to keep the cani-cross already hosted in the past, on the 5 km circuit. “It’s a developing practice that allows you to reach another audience, he indicates. For the classic 5km, Sunday runners will be able to have fun without damage”.

And who says renewal says new layouts. “These are essentially undergrowth paths, a few forest roads and the beginning of each course is tarred, the time to reach the forest, introduce the secretary. In this corner of the department, there is no significant drop. The courses are technical and natural”.

“Depending on future choices, we may introduce some difficulties such as crossing a quarry or a small streamprojects Denis Bénard. We want to set the scene for future years. Make insiders and non-initiates want to come to us”. USP Running hopes to welcome at least 300 participants for this first, which will not be the last.
