First Indigenous Case of Dengue Fever in Île-de-France: Mosquito Control Campaigns and Prevention Measures

The Île-de-France Regional Health Agency (ARS) received on October 11, 2023 the report of a case of dengue fever concerning a person residing in Limeil-Brévannes (Val de Marne). This case was confirmed by biological analyses. The investigation carried out by the Agency’s services, with the Public Health France teams, made it possible to identify this case as the first indigenous case in Île-de-France.

If autochthonous cases of dengue have already been identified in the metropolitan territory, this is the first case in Île-de-France.

Two successive mosquito control campaigns, the objective of which is to reduce the risk of spreading dengue fever, have therefore been planned in two localized areas of Limeil-Brévannes: the first took place on the night of Sunday October 15 to Monday October 16 , the second is planned for the night of Friday October 20 to Saturday October 21 if weather conditions permit, and will be postponed otherwise. These mosquito control operations will be coupled with a field survey including door-to-door visits to local residents to detect other potential cases and relay prevention messages.

And possible cas autochtone had been reported to Nandy (Seine et Marne) in September 2023, the latter was finally considered as an imported case due to a recent trip by the person concerned to an endemic area.
