Dubai: The UAE Cabinet has given temporary approval to a fully electric cargo plane. It is the first time a country in the Gulf region has approved an electric cargo plane.
The approval is part of the plans to increase the use of environmentally friendly energy. The decision regarding this was taken by the Cabinet which met in Abu Dhabi the other day. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said this is an important step that might contribute to changing the future of the freight sector and its environmental impacts.
It is estimated that the new system will reduce the costs of the freight sector and help in spreading the use of clean energy to more areas. With growing concern regarding climate change, countries around the world are increasingly moving towards sustainable and environmentally friendly modes of transportation. UAE is also taking similar action.
