Last Wednesday the Taiwanese giant we know as ASUSlaunched a new laptop in Chile that seeks to be the “MacBook Air Killer” definitive. I mean the Zenbook S 13 OLEDa very interesting laptop that offers a stylish design, powerful performance and an impressive screen.

You can find all the information in the note we made regarding the launch at the following link:

I already have the privilege of having it in my hands to test it for a couple of weeks and do a review. However, I’ve been testing it long enough to tell you regarding my first impressions of the ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED.

Design

The first thing that caught my attention was its design, specifically its weight and how thin it is. In fact, it weighs just 1kg and has a profile of just 1cm, making it one of the thinnest notebooks in the world, and it really shows.

My personal computer is a 2020 MacBook Air and until a few days ago it was the thinnest and lightest notebook of all. However, now that place is definitely taken by this ASUS but by far, so I decided to give it a vacation while doing the review.

Screen

Not only was I impressed with its design, then I came across its OLED type screen, it was like seeing those ultra expensive televisions that they sell in commercial stores with incredible images, but now I was seeing it on this 13.3-inch laptop.

And not only does it give you all the advantages of OLED technology, I also found that it supports Dolby Vision, so I practically had a store TV on this computer, which is to say, it had the best of the best in terms of quality. image and that already motivates you to work with it and continue using it.

Hardware

Then we turn to its performance, because there I found Windows 11 Home, a version of the Microsoft operating system that I already knew and that behaves perfectly for what I do, so I have nothing to comment on there. However, overall performance was very good.

And since it was not going to be if we have the 13th generation Intel Core i7 processor inside, in addition to 16 GB of RAM, hardware that is left over for Windows 11, so the few programs that I have been able to run so far They have run flawlessly for me, but in the review we are going to put it to the test with more demanding programs.

Audio

Then we have its sound, according to ASUS, here we will find two speakers optimized by Harman Kardon and with Dolby Atmos technology. These speakers are located right on the edges of the equipment, so they do not get covered when you are in flat areas, which is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the sound quality, the truth is that here I still prefer the MacBook Air speakers, but that does not mean that the ASUS speakers sound bad, on the contrary, they sound good, they sound loud and thanks to the support of Dolby Atmos gives you a surround effect. However, the bass sounds are much softer and less noticeable than those offered by the MacBook Air.

connectivity

In terms of connectivity, I definitely prefer ASUS there, since we not only have two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports that we find in MacBooks Air, here we also have a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port and an HDMI port 2.1, which is greatly appreciated to find in a notebook like this because it saves me from having to use adapters.

Autonomy

Finally we have its battery autonomy, which ASUS promises up to approximately 14 hours. However, in my personal experience that I have had so far, its autonomy has been approximately 10 hours, although obviously all this depends clearly on the use that each one uses in the equipment.

And those have been my first impressions that I have had so far with this ASUS Zenbook S 13 OLED and I will reserve the rest for the review that I will start preparing from now on and that I will publish very soon so that you know all the details, the good and the bad of this new laptop from the Taiwanese company ASUS.
