First hybrid power plants inaugurated in El Salvador 2024-07-09 08:02:09

Last Thursday, May 23, El Salvador marked a milestone by inaugurating the hybrid operation of two power plants located in La Libertad and Santa Ana, the first of their kind in the country, with a total investment of $1.6 million dollars.

The facilities, San Matías in La Libertad and San Luis in Santa Ana, are managed by Compañía Eléctrica Cucumacayán (CECSA), which have been modernized with the installation of 1,600 photovoltaic solar panels, which has increased their capacity for the benefit of more than 14,000 families.

The new solar panels, using monocrystalline and bifacial technology, can capture both direct and reflected light on both sides of the panel, increasing energy production by 30% compared to traditional photovoltaic technology.

The Government stresses that this project will guarantee continuous energy generation throughout the year, whether in winter or summer, allowing a stable energy supply at a lower cost and in an environmentally friendly manner.
