First Hindu Woman to Contest General Elections in Pakistan: Dr. Zaveera Parkash Makes History

ISLAMABAD: For the first time in history, a Hindu woman is set to contest general elections in Pakistan. Dr. Zaveera Parkash, a young woman, submitted her nomination form in Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The general election will be held on February 8, 2024.

Zaveera is contesting on a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ticket. Zaveera’s father Dr. Om Parkash has been an active worker of PPP for 35 years. Zaveera, a 2022 medical graduate from Abbottabad International Medical College, is the general secretary of PPP Women’s Wing, Buner. Sawira said that the aim is to work for the upliftment of women and their rights. After 55 years of Buner being a part of Pakistan, for the first time a woman is all set to contest elections from here.
