## Interview with Two Apprentice Graduates



**Q:** Congratulations on graduating from the apprenticeship program at Cork College! Can you tell us about your experience?



**A: Conor Kilkenny:** Thank you! It’s been a fantastic journey. the program gave me a perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. I learned so much from my instructors at Cork College and from the skilled stylists at the salon where I apprenticed.



**A: Sarah O’Brien:** I wholly agree. I always wanted to be a hairdresser, and this apprenticeship gave me the hands-on training I needed to feel confident in my skills. Plus, earning while I learned was a huge bonus.



**Q:** What were some of the biggest challenges you faced during your apprenticeship?



**A: Conor kilkenny: ** Balancing coursework with the demands of a busy salon surroundings was definitely challenging at times. There were some long days, but it was all worth it.



**A: Sarah O’Brien:** For me,the biggest challenge was building my confidence in my own abilities. Working with real clients can be nerve-wracking at first, but I learned so much from feedback and by constantly practicing.



**Q:** What advice would you give to others considering an apprenticeship in hairdressing?



**A: Conor Kilkenny:** Go for it! It’s hard work, but it’s an incredibly rewarding experience. You’ll gain valuable skills and build connections with other professionals in the industry.



**A: sarah O’Brien:** Absolutely. And don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek guidance from your mentors. Everyone was so supportive throughout my apprenticeship, and I learned a tremendous amount from their experience and advice.



**Q:** What are your plans for the future now that you’ve graduated?



**A: Conor Kilkenny:** I’m excited to start my career as a fully qualified hairdresser. I’m hoping to gain more experience in different areas of hairdressing, like coloring and styling, and eventually open my own salon someday.



**A: Sarah O’Brien:**



I’m planning to continue working at the salon where I apprenticed. I’ve learned so much there, and I’m looking forward to growing my skills and building a loyal clientele.
