Competitions for 3 sports will begin today, as part of the activities of the first Gulf Youth Games “Emirates 2024”, which is hosted by the Emirates. The competitions, which will continue until next May 2, were launched under the slogan “Our Gulf is One… Our Youth is Promising.”
Today’s competitions include the launch of sailing competitions, which will continue until April 21, on the breakwater at the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, with 12 races in the categories of Optimist, Alka 4, and Alka 6 boats, with the participation of 48 male and female athletes between the ages of 11 and 18 years.
Athletics competitions will also begin today, which will continue until April 19, at the Dubai Police Officers Club, and during the same period, athletics competitions for people of determination will also be held, as part of Paralympic sports, at the Dubai Police Officers Club.
Meanwhile, the Taekwondo competitions that started yesterday, Tuesday, will be completed in the Zayed Sports Complex hall in Fujairah.
Taking into account the weather condition that the country is going through, and in order to ensure the safety of all participants, the organizing committee of the tournament announced the postponement of the football matches, held in Abu Dhabi, which were scheduled to start yesterday, Tuesday, between the UAE national team and its Omani counterpart, and the Bahraini national team and its Kuwaiti counterpart, with the date to be determined later. It was also decided to postpone the crowning of the winners of the Taekwondo competitions in the tournament, which was held in the Emirate of Fujairah, until today.
The Badminton Federation announced the readiness of 24 players, both male and female, to participate in the competitions, as the game’s competitions will start during the period from April 19 to 22 of this month in the hall of the Zayed Sports Complex in the Emirate of Fujairah.
Noura Hassan Al Jasmi, President of the Badminton Federation and member of the Board of Directors of the National Olympic Committee, confirmed the team’s readiness to participate in the most prominent sporting event in the Arab Gulf countries.
She pointed out that the male and female players benefited from the internal camp that was held before the start of the tournament, and from the training that was held at the “Extra” and “Pioneer” academies in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Al Jasmi expressed her hope that the UAE players, male and female, will achieve the expected results, win gold medals, and benefit from holding the tournament in its first edition on the UAE stadiums, as well as benefit from the public presence that will stand behind the UAE teams in various games.
The technical staff of the Chess Federation held a meeting with the male and female national team players representing the UAE national team in the first Gulf Youth Games “for the Emirates 2024”, on the sidelines of the conclusion of the Sunni Stage League Championship, which was held in the hall of the Dubai Chess and Culture Club.
The chess competitions in the tournament will start from April 18 to 22 at the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club.
The meeting was attended by Sultan Ali Al-Taher, head of the apparatus, Muhammad Abdullah, the technical director of the federation, and Iman Al-Arif, a member of the technical staff, in addition to coaches, administrators and players. The technical staff spoke with the players regarding the tournament, the technical regulations and instructions, and urged them to present the supervisory level in the tournament, and to ensure that Achieving medals and raising the country’s flag in the Gulf forum.

Sultan Ali Al Taher stressed that the UAE’s hosting of the first edition of the tournament is a distinguished event, and organizational success needs to be accompanied by artistic success, through winning medals, climbing to podiums, and raising the country’s flag, which is what we were keen to highlight to the male and female players during the meeting.
He said: “The sons and daughters of the Emirates have the ability to achieve ambitions, especially since all the players participated during the last period in many preparation stages, the most prominent of which was a group of Ramadan tournaments, interaction with different chess schools, and also participation in the rounds of the Sunni Stages League until the last round, which is Which means that all male and female players are fully prepared for the event.
19 players on the boxing national team roster
The Boxing Federation announced the selection of 19 players for the national team, which will compete in the tournament, where the competitions will be held on April 23 and 24 at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The UAE national team is led by national coach Muhammad Musabah Al-Shibli, and the technical staff includes coach Kahkhasan Mammadov, and assistants Adel Al-Ashri, Qasim Al-Barout, and Mahmoud Al-Assasi.
The team’s players will participate in 10 weights during the Gulf Games competitions, as Ahmed Al Marashdeh and Omar Amiri will participate in the 45 kg weight, Ahmed Al Mansouri and Sultan Mohsen will participate in the 51 kg weight, Hamad Al Jabri and Rashid Al Badawneh will participate in the 54 kg weight, and Ali Sharif and Badr Al Sidrani will participate in the 54 kg weight. For his part, Mohammed Al-Shibli, the technical director of the boxing team, confirmed the readiness of the players to participate in the first Gulf Youth Games, noting that the team is currently undergoing an internal preparation camp in Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, which began on the first of this month, and ends on Saturday, April 20.
He explained: “The group of players was chosen to participate in the final camp, following a tournament was held for the same age group in Fujairah last March, as the tournament was an important milestone for the Boxing Federation and the technical staff to choose the best elements to represent the country in the tournament.”
Al-Shibli expressed his happiness with the participation of boxing in the Gulf Games, stressing that this category will have a very good opportunity to interact with high levels of the game at the Gulf level, at a time when these players will become the true nucleus of the first team in the coming years.
9 teams for boys and girls in the “3×3 basket” competition.

At the girls’ level, the Emirates will participate with two teams (A) and (B). In addition to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
He explained that the tournament referees committee was formed, headed by Daoud Al Tamimi, the stadium organizing committee, headed by Rashid Abdullah Al Naqbi, and the public relations committee, headed by Abdullah Jassim, and each of these committees began to begin their work, and tasks were determined and each member of the committee was assigned to the matters entrusted to him. .
He added: “The first technical meeting was held, in the presence of Saadoun Al-Kuwari (Qatar), Hammoud Al-Maliki (Saudi Arabia), Ali Salem Al-Yarbi (Sultanate of Oman), and Awaid Al-Anazi (Kuwait). Volleyball competitions start April 20
The Volleyball Federation announced the formation of the technical committees working in the volleyball competition, which will be held in the Al Nasr Sports Club hall in Dubai, during the period from April 20 to 25.
The refereeing committee for the volleyball competition is headed by Jamal Issa Al-Matroushi, member of the Board of Directors of the Volleyball Federation and Vice President of the Federation for internal representation, along with the rapporteur of the refereeing committee, Awad Al-Mansouri, member of the Federation’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the National Teams Committee.
The technical committee is headed by Qatari Yousef Ahmed Kanoo, and its members include Kuwaiti Abdullah Al-Ghurair and Omani Issa Al-Qassabi. The referees committee is headed by Saudi Khaled Al-Zoghaibi, and with him are Bahraini Rashid Jaber Sayyar and Emirati Ali Salem Al-Mana.

“Police Sports and Shooting” is ready to host “triathlon” competitions
Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Abdullah Abu Shehab Al Suwaidi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Police Sports and Shooting Club in Ajman, announced that a meeting was held with officials of local authorities, to agree on the arrangements for the triathlon championship held within the competitions of the first Gulf Games for Youth in the Emirates, the competitions of which begin on April 26.
Al Suwaidi confirmed the readiness of the facilities of the Police Sports and Shooting Club in Ajman to host the tournament, which includes 3 competitions: running, cycling, and swimming, which will be held on Al Zorah Beach. The competitions will be hosted and organized in coordination with the local authorities in the emirate.
He explained that the club also includes a running track, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, and other halls suitable for players participating in the tournament to warm up well, in addition to halls equipped with the latest equipment, hosting technical meetings, workshops, and meetings of team managers.
