The first edition of JK Rowling’s 1997 Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is up for auction in the UK. Its original price is £5,000. TASS.
The battered volume is owned by an amateur collector who purchased it from the library for the symbolic price of 30p. The library has deemed the condition of the book unreadable. The auction will take place in Lichfield on 10 July.
Experts confirmed the authenticity of the publication. In 1997, 500 copies were released. Only 200 of them went on sale, the rest are in libraries.
